Question 1

I signed up with GitHub Social login. Do I still need to connect my Git account?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you do.

At aline.team, authentication and analysis are intentionally separated.

Social login (GitHub, Google, etc.) is only used to create your aline.team account.
To analyze your development activity, you still need to explicitly connect your Git account.

aline.team also supports multiple Git accounts, so you can link personal and work accounts, or multiple repositories, under a single aline.team profile.

In short:

- Social login = account access

- Git connection = development data source

That’s why connecting your Git account is required, regardless of how you signed up.

When will collaboration features be released?

We’re actively building it—there’s just a lot we want to ship (some people might say we’re enjoying the process a little too much 😅). But yes, it’s coming soon.

Question 3

What’s the difference between personal features and collaboration features?

Accepted Answer

Personal features focus on helping you understand your day-to-day dev activity—things you might’ve missed or never tracked—so you can review it daily.

Collaboration features are designed for the whole product team: developers + PO/Designer/PM, to help teams work faster and smarter together.

What does the mobile app do?

Accepted Answer

The mobile app is mainly for showing and sharing your developer profile badge with coworkers or friends. We plan to add more features over time to make it more useful.

Question 5

Is it safe to connect my Git repositories?

Accepted Answer

Yes. User data is encrypted and stored in a distributed way, and Aline.team does not have permissions to edit or delete your code.
If you’re cautious, a good approach is starting with a public repository first, then expanding.

Question 6

Do you take or modify my source code?

Accepted Answer

No. Never. Aline.team does not modify, collect, or store your source code under any circumstances.

Question 7

I added repos, but I don’t see any graphs or data yet.

Accepted Answer

Right after the first setup, Aline.team needs a few minutes (usually a couple minutes up to ~10 minutes) to collect and analyze your data.

Question 8

I enabled “Verification” during repository setup, but I never got an email or action request.

Accepted Answer

This usually happens when the Git account email isn’t configured properly, or it’s set to a non-receivable address. A common example is when the email shows up like:

@users.noreply.github.com

In that case, verification emails simply can’t reach you.

Question 9

I connected my Git account—why do I still need to select repositories?

Accepted Answer

So you can control what gets analyzed. We let you choose the specific repos you want included (instead of scanning everything by default).

Question 10

Why do you recommend using a PC browser instead of mobile?

Accepted Answer

Most Git services are designed primarily for desktop workflows, so on mobile some setup steps can be limited or harder to complete (permissions, settings, repo access, etc.). Using a PC browser usually makes the onboarding much smoother.

Question 11

Why does sign-up fail in social media in-app browsers (e.g., Instagram/Twitter browser)?

Accepted Answer

In-app browsers often break OAuth flows (GitHub, etc.). When the flow redirects from the external Git service back to Aline.team, the browser may treat it like a new session, which can wipe things like cookies / local storage, so login info doesn’t persist.

Do I need to sign up to see my strengths?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your strengths are automatically analyzed daily, and they evolve as your activity changes.
Creating an account lets us track and accumulate your results without making you reconnect everything every time.

Question 13

Do I have to pay to view my developer profile?

Accepted Answer

Nope. Insights and Trends are currently 100% free, and we’re not planning to paywall those features.
